Quentin Stella | Body of the Body
Quentin Stella was born in Belfast and now lives between Leipzig and Copenhagen. He was an artist in residence at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Karlsruhe until 1992. This conceptual artist dedicates his work to the question of kitsch.
Quentin Stella endeavors to explosively disrupt the signifier with a striking audacity. Rather than engaging in the exploration of singularity, his reflection provokes within us a consciousness of an undeniable urgency: that of clearing the territories of ecstasy. The work entitled "Body of the Body" must interrogate the relevance of our relationship to the museum institution, all in echo with the illuminating reflections of Abraham Viala. Drawing inspiration from the artistic vision of Emil Nolde, Quentin Stella enacts a true illumination of the categorization of the self on the canvas, inviting the viewer to plunge into the depths of their own being and to consider new perspectives on identity.
