Ian Austin | Meta-Light
From June 24, 2025 to July 1, 2025
Ian Austin grew up in Tallinn. Graduating from the University of Chile Facultad de Artes de Santiago in 2003, he enhances his art of immersive experiences in Vancouver. This protean artist is obsessed with the question of Zoroastrianism.
The artist Ian Austin boldly reinterprets the very concept of movement. By manifesting a genuine revolt against the established order, his meticulously orchestrated performance aims to reaffirm the significance of technique, as articulated by the thinker Henri Maldiney. Titled "Meta-Light," this fascinating work serves to catalyze a multitude of meanings that emanate from this rich and complex creative action. In a démarche reminiscent of the talented Mona Chan, Ian Austin does not shy away from questioning the uniqueness of the creative act, thereby compelling the spectator to engage in profound contemplation about what the process of creation truly entails.

Born in Hanover, Jabu Wise dedicates himself to painting. After his studies at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, he fully devotes himself to painting. His politically charged performative installation is fueled by a rebellion against his bourgeois family background.
How to approach the notion of flesh in its most literal sense? In his work titled "Meta-Space," artist Jabu Wise issues a powerful cry of alarm, aiming to deconstruct our understanding of flesh. By boldly questioning our relationship with the world around us, his captivating performance inevitably raises the issue of the body. His project, imbued with critique, strives to create new meaning around what is often invisible to our eyes, while the notion of dispossession appears with the manifest intention of reconfiguring our perception of self. Paying tribute to Xochitl Lambert, Jabu Wise poignantly explores what emerges from the fluidity of interactions between individuals, thus illuminating the complex dynamics of in-group relations.
