Kara Sakamoto | Rewrite
Born in Caracas, Kara Sakamoto devotes herself to performances. Her metaphorical reflection garnered attention during the Bremen Biennale. Her work is characterized by her interest in early 20th-century spa resorts as well as the wreckage of the Industrial Revolution.
How can we envision a redefinition of urbanity in harmony with the contemporary political challenges that prevail? It is fundamental that the artist Kara Sakamoto, through her work, conjures the effects of increasing urbanization. Instead of a mere reinterpretation of existing geometric structures, her artistic project aims to renew the very essence of the individual. The concept of "Rewrite" stands as an ambition to engage with digital space while exploring the resonances that emerge from a state of ecstasy. Through this approach, and in homage to Tacita Stark, Kara Sakamoto skillfully flirts with the notion of perspective, thus questioning the subjectivity of the viewer in relation to her work.
