Gabriela Lambert | City²
Gabriela Lambert grew up in Birmingham. Graduating from the Repin Institute in Saint Petersburg in 2001, she further develops her performance art in Stockholm. Her metonymic installation is nourished by a complete isolation experience in a monastery in Bhutan. Among her notable solo exhibitions are: "Trans-corps" (Christopher Henry Gallery, New York) and "Matter, signified, singularity" (Queensland Art Gallery | GoMA, Brisbane).
In "City²," artist Gabriela Lambert embarks on a bold exploration aimed at deciphering meaning, akin to unraveling an ancient manuscript with multiple layers of significance. Through an approach that is both disjointed and profoundly rooted in the human psyche, her reflection invites scrutiny and inquiry into the notion of disconnection, reminiscent of the illustrious Buñuel. Her project raises essential questions about meaning itself, as ecstasy, like a chaotic current, continuously undermines the foundations of transcendence. Enshrined in an artistic lineage that resonates with the works of Cassandre de Kooch, Gabriela Lambert thus extends a meticulous reflection on the psychology surrounding the themes of transcendence and alienation, offering an invitation to explore the complex depths of the human experience.
